Our Worship Together

Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with God and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

Our worship is a response to God's love for us. 
Worship is not just relegated to Sunday.
Worship involves clergy and lay people, young and old, male and female. (Galatians 3:28)  God's love is for all of us, and it is constant, thus our response must permeate every aspect of our lives. Our worship is made up of our everyday living.
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. ~ Romans 12:1 (MSG)
Everything we are and everything we do- all of our everyday lives- and all of the Sunday activities of singing, praying, reading scripture, and preaching- all lead to, and proceed from, Christ's table. 

​Thus, Communion is the highlight and climax of our Sunday service.
We meet at the Lord's Table 
in remembrance of Jesus' greatest act of love- the laying down of his life. ​​
​

As Disciples of Christ, we embrace Jesus' offering of Himself wholly to all people. Thus, the Lord's Supper is open to all. And "all" means all.
​
We proclaim, "These are the Gifts of God, for the People of God. The Table is set. The Feast is prepared. And YOU are welcome."

Worship is in-person at 10:30 a.m. and streamed online via Facebook Live.

What to expect from a Sunday worship service at MCC

We understand that it can be a little intimidating to encounter a congregation for the first time.
When you visit MCC Peoria, you can expect to find:
  • friendly, welcoming people
  • the "Prayground" where kids can play on an inviting rug near caregivers
  • a regular Lesson from the Yellow Chair (a special children's message)
  • a paper bulletin with art (selected by or created by Rev. April to illustrate the worship series or sermon) with prayers, responses, and scripture included
  • a sanctuary with plenty of places to sit 
  • communion served every Sunday, with a pre-packaged option for those with safety concerns
  • mostly casual dress - some people wear jeans; others dress up - whatever you wear is fine with us!

Children and Sunday Worship

Children are always welcome to remain in the sanctuary with their caregivers. Please do not worry about keeping children quiet. We believe these noises are among the most wonderful of the "joyful noises!"
If a child or caregiver prefers, we invite you to our playroom called The 
Playroma (pleroma, pronounced "play-ROE-muh" is a biblical Greek word meaning "the fullness of God in Christ" which we hope all ages find.) A teen attendant is available in the Playroma after the morning's children's moment, Lessons from the Yellow Chair.
