Leadership
Rev. April McClure Stewart
Pastor. Jesus-follower. Wife of an engineer. Momma to four girls, two boys, and a son-in-law. Mumsie to one grandson. Home educator. Music nerd. Writer. Artist. Thinker. Bread-baker. Book-reader. Coffee-drinker.
April was born and raised in Eureka, IL, a small town about 20 miles east of Peoria. She graduated from Eureka College with a B.A. in Vocal Performance and planned to study classical voice — until she realized that Church, and all its weird and wonderful workings, is what truly thrills her.
She received her M.Div. from Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, KY, and served First Christian Church in Richmond, KY and First Christian Church in Lancaster, KY as an associate pastor for music and youth. April then served First Christian Church of Rock Falls, IL as a solo pastor.
Rev. April and family in 2024
In 2009, April left pulpit ministry to embrace the ministry of motherhood — home educating her children, teaching at a local classical Christian school, and serving in various ministries and leadership positions. April returned to ministry in 2017 within the fellowship of the Mennonite Church (USA) as Pastor of Worship at Roanoke Mennonite Church in Roanoke, IL. She was called to Mosaic Christian Church in August 2020.
Her calling also extends beyond the local congregation: April serves as Minister of Communications and Development for the Christian Church in Illinois and Wisconsin, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Ministry degree at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana.
Leadership
As a congregation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we are governed by our members. Elders are nominated, elected, and ordained by the congregation to serve as spiritual leaders alongside our pastor, who is herself an ordained elder. They serve at the Table, lead worship, offer prayer and care, preach, teach, and tend the congregation in times of need.
We are blessed to have five faithful, humble, and compassionate individuals serving in this role.
Leadership
Members of the Diaconate serve the practical and pastoral needs of the congregation — setting and serving the Lord's Table, caring for members, and embodying the servant-heart of Christ in the life of the church.
We'd Love to See You
