What is a Capital Campaign?
A capital campaign raises funds for "capital" needs - meaning the building and property.
Why Have a Capital Campaign?
Our building and property have several pressing needs. With this campaign, we want to establish a dedicated fund to help us to navigate capital expenses.
What capital expenses does MCC face?
1. We must bring our main entrance up to accessibility code by eliminating the dangerous step at the double doors.
2. Our roof is leaking in several places and needs repair and/ or replacement.
3. Our parking lot will need repair/ resurfacing soon.
4. Several of our heating and cooling units are coming to the end of their life expectancy.
What do you hope to achieve with this capital campaign?
We hope to raise $75,000 over a period of three years to establish a fund for capital expenses. This fund will provide for the possibility of short and longer-term loans for major repairs and/ or renovations.
Weren't you going to sell the Building?
Yes! Five years ago, our congregation made the very difficult decision to sell the building, in part because of some of these expenses.
What Changed Your Minds?
God! That's really the only honest answer to that question. We had several offers on the building but, for one reason or another, they fell through. In 2020, we began asking, "What if God has something in mind for MCC right here, right now?" We began to seek new mission opportunities for our congregation with the building and property at the top of the list of gifts we could offer our community.
Why do you think MCC's Building and Property is special?
Because it is! We think God has something in mind for this little church. MCC came into being when other DOC churches in town decided to create a new congregation here. Our congregation began in this place. It has been 60 years since this church was built and it STILL is a great facility - all one level with plenty of adaptability. Our yard is enormous and our parking lot is generous. We are able to partner with and offer space to many different groups thanks to its location.
WhY "Come and SEE" as your Theme?
MCC has experienced new life, new energy, and new purpose in the last few years. We are continually surprised by what God is doing here. Our capital campaign is about sharing our joy and awe as we plan for the future knowing that God is going to give us plenty more reasons to say, "Come and See!"
What's with the Googly Eyes?
The googly eyes remind us to retain our childlike delight in seeing God's great and mighty works! Our congregation is a casual and happy group. We love to laugh and be authentically together. Five years ago, that was true, too, but we also thought we were headed to the grave as a church. Now we see reminders of God's new life all the time! We are filled with joy and awe at what God has done. Our eyes are wide open to see what's next. And because we know God is the One who is bringing revival to MCC, we know that whatever-is-next is going to be gooooood!
